- Collection and inventory: After receiving your old laptops or computers, our team carefully collects and inventories each device and its hard drive. This step ensures that no device is overlooked for disposal.
- Data sanitisation: Before the physical destruction begins, we apply rigorous data sanitisation techniques to ensure that all confidential information stored on the hard drives is irreversibly deleted. During this process, data is overwritten in multiple passes to meet the highest security standards, including those set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Department of Defence (DoD).
- Physical Destruction: Once data sanitisation is complete, the hard drives are physically destroyed. Our facility is equipped with specialised machines that can render hard drives completely unusable. This destruction method follows industry best practises and ensures that the data cannot be recovered under any circumstances.
- Certificate of Destruction: Upon completion of the destruction process, we issue a Certificate of Destruction for each hard drive. This certificate serves as proof that the hard drive has been properly disposed of in accordance with legal requirements. It gives our customers the certainty that their data has been securely destroyed.
- Environmentally compatible disposal: After destruction, the remains of the hard drives and other electronic components are recycled in compliance with environmental regulations.
